About Us

Phoenix Park Neighbourhood House was incorporated in June 2004 and is operated from the Phoenix Park Community Centre in East Malvern. The establishment of the Neighbourhood House involved a partnership between the City of Stonnington, the Department of Human Services and the community. The Neighbourhood House is incorporated as an Association under the Incorporations Act and is governed by a Committee of Management which is made up of representatives from the community and elected at the Annual General Meeting.

From its first small program offered in November 2004, Phoenix Park Neighbourhood House's activities have grown to include computer courses, playgroups, art programs for children and adults, a book group, a discussion group, a men's group, a range of exercise classes including pilates, gentle exercise to music, yoga and dance classes, parenting classes, language, photography and a community singing group.

At Phoenix Park we aim to provide courses and activities which meet the needs of the community. Ongoing consultation with both individuals and community groups assists us to fulfil these needs. Our courses are designed to be inclusive of all in the community and wheelchair access is provided to the building, the toilets and our activities. In addition, our computer room has desks which accommodate wheelchairs, software and hardware to assist those of all abilities.

We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Department for Victorian Communities and the City of Stonnington.
