Structure
Staffing
Phoenix Park is staffed by both paid and unpaid part-time workers. Our paid workers include the Co-Ordinator who is responsible for the management and day to day running of the House, an administration assistant, book-keeper and a team of tutors. Unpaid workers include our Volunteer Committee of Management and a number of other volunteers who assist in the running of the House. The administration assistant, book-keeper, tutors and volunteers report to the Co-Ordinator, whilst the Co-Ordinator reports to the Committee of Management.
Volunteers
Volunteers are an integral part of Phoenix Park Neighbourhood House and provide an opportunity for members of the community to have involvement in their Neighbourhood House. Volunteers at Phoenix Park are a diverse group of people; from those who want to improve their skills with a view to rejoining the paid workforce to those who have a couple of hours a week to spare and would just like to be part of a community group.
Volunteers can contribute in many ways to the Neighbourhood House; some come to us with strong administrative skills whilst others are happy to help in the practical day to day activities of the House such as setting up for playgroup or tidying up a room after a class. We value the contribution of all our volunteers. All volunteers will receive a clear statement of the duties they are to undertake and will be supervised and supported by Neighbourhood House staff.

Committee of Management
Phoenix Park Neighbourhood House is governed by a Volunteer Committee of Management which is made up of representatives from the community. Whilst some Committee members stay on for more than one term, there is an opportunity for new members to join the Committee each year at our Annual General Meeting. The office bearers of the Committee are the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Public Officer, with approximately five to six other members. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month and run from 7.00 to 9.00 pm. Our Annual General Meeting is generally in August each year.
Our Committee represents a cross-section of the community and includes people who are employed, retired, choosing to stay at home, people of different ages and gender; all with a commitment to building a better community through the Neighbourhood House.
Membership
Membership to Phoenix Park Neighbourhood House costs $7.00 for the first year with each subsequent year being at a cost of $5.00. Whilst it is not mandatory for those attending courses to become members, Phoenix Park encourages participants to take up membership. Members are entitled to join our Committee of Management and have their say in their Neighbourhood House.
If you are interested in taking up membership, joining our Committee of Management or perhaps volunteering a couple of hours a week, please contact us on 9530 4397.
