Stitching Connections – Community Art Project

Tutor: Nicole Kemp Day: Wed

This term we have a very talented textile artist, Nicole Kemp, directing a FREE Community Project for us and we are looking for a core group of 10 people to work under the guidance of Nicole.  The project will run between 10.30am and 12.30pm weekly, commencing Wednesday 13 July and concluding on Wednesday 14 September. We would love you to join us and no experience in stitching is necessary, as Nicole will be there to help you
This is a great opportunity to work in a small group of like-minded people, socialise and contribute to this fabulous community project.  If you are unavailable to join in weekly, there will be opportunity to contribute smaller items to be incorporated into the larger piece and we also plan to include some of the 1000 hearts in the wall hanging.
The “Stitching Connections” project will focus on making a wall piece in the form of a quilt to reflect resilience and community spirit. Each member of the core group will create a small square panel which will then be incorporated into a larger wall hanging. We will also welcome the entire community to contribute to the community quilt via take home packs if not participating on a weekly basis.
Due to the generous sponsorship of the Malvern East Community Bank – Bendigo Bank, there is no cost to participants as materials will be supplied.  We do ask you to bring your own fabric scissors and needles and if you have some spare materials at home you would like to use or contribute, this would be greatly appreciated.
If you would like to like a take home pack or contribute in another way or have any questions, please email administration@phoenixparknh.org.au   We look forward to you joining us in this exciting project.
